France Wine

France began making wine long before Romans were trying to conquer the world. Romans spread the practice throughout Europe. Wine is fermented grapes juice that has been turned into alcohol by cultured yeasts. Before bottling the yeasts are filtered out. The fine france wine is know all over the world and have a quality and range that make then unique. In particular the Bordeaux, Burgundy, and champagnes, are among the most famous. The everyday table wines are enjoyable too, and many good wines are emerging from the southern regions too. There are ten wine producing regions in France where the majority of france wine comes from. Each region has its own variety of grapes that are unique to that area.

The grapes that go into wines give them the flavor that is unique to that wine. Cabernet Franc is grown mainly in the Bordeaux region and is also known as Bouchet is some areas. It is a convenient grape that grows in many different types of soil. Merlot is another Bordeaux region grape variety and is the most important grape in that region. It is a fragile grape that creates a rich colored wine with body and softness. Pinot Noir is a popular Burgundy france wine that is in the red grape variety. The juice is sweet with a cherry, licorice aroma.

France ranks number one in the production of wine across the world and is number two in wine consumption. France does, however lead the world in wine quality. Their meticulous planting and picking of grapes gives their wine a flavor that cannot be duplicated anywhere else. Many people from all over the world visit France to take tours of the many vineyards there.
